Protein Powder - Julian Bakery

Protein Powder

Dec 30, 2024

After a workout at the gym and a quick sunset run, there’s nothing I crave more than a protein shake. Since I usually eat energy-boosting carbs at lunch, I reserve my protein powders for post-workout recovery, optimizing their muscle-building benefits. My early dinner protein shake consists of oat milk, one banana, macadamia and pecan nuts, Ceylon cinnamon, ground flaxseed, and Chocolate Egg White Protein Powder (from Julian Bakery, of course). This shake is gorgeously textured, deeply flavored, and makes for a dessert-like bow at the end of the day.

Protein powders are an efficient way to consume our daily minimum amount of protein, which is 0.36 grams per pound of total body weight. When I call it efficient, I mean it in both a nutritional and practical sense. Nutritionally, protein powders provide the most protein for the least calories. Practically, they’re incredibly versatile: you can blend them into mousses, shakes, or puddings for an easy, on-the-go meal.

Julian Bakery’s protein powder selection includes two plant-based and four egg-white options. All of them are dairy-free and easy to digest. The plant-based options are Seed Protein Triple Chocolate and Pea Protein Vanilla. The seeds in the Triple Chocolate powder come from roasted Sacha Inchi, and when blended, it has the smoothest consistency of all the protein powders. The Triple Chocolate flavor is rich and dense. Its minor drawback is that it has the lowest protein-to-calorie ratio among Julian Bakery’s options.

The opposite is true for Pea Protein Vanilla, which boasts the highest protein-to-calorie ratio. As a pea protein, its texture is slightly grainier. However, its efficient nutrition profile and glowing vanilla flavor make it an excellent choice, especially for those following a plant-based diet. I love using this powder for my morning detox chia pudding, which I make with almond milk, cashews, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and ground flaxseed.

The egg-white protein powders strike a balance between smooth texture and nutritional efficiency. These are available in Chocolate, Vanilla, Espresso, and Unflavored varieties. The unflavored option is popular with home bakers, as it adds an undetectable protein boost to mixes like waffle batter or banana bread. Chocolate, Vanilla, and Espresso are flavorful classics that can be simply blended with oat milk for a ready-to-go treat.

All in all, Julian Bakery’s protein powders stand out for their premium, natural ingredients and easy mixability. The best flavor and protein source depend on individual preferences and needs, but one thing is certain: these products make it easy to meet daily nutritional goals in a delicious way.
