Julian Bakery began in 1990 in the mountains of Southern California, sparked by the vision of nutritionist Barbara. Guided by her belief that wholesome, nutritious food should be accessible to everyone, Barbara and her husband Fred set out to offer cleaner alternatives to the chemical-laden baked goods filling grocery store shelves. Using only the finest ingredients—from organic whole grains and eggs to whey protein—Barbara built the foundation of a bakery rooted in quality and integrity.

In 2009, the family tradition evolved when Barbara’s son, Heath, joined the business with a deep passion for health, innovation, and product development. Motivated in part by a personal health condition, Heath pushed to transition Julian Bakery into a 100% gluten-free and Non-GMO brand, opening the door to a wider range of dietary lifestyles and setting the stage for the company’s next chapter.

By 2016, many of the company’s most recognized product lines were formulated and launched, including ProGranola®, Protein Bars and Protein Powders, and Pure Monk®. During this period, Julian Bakery expanded its reach significantly, distributing products across the U.S. and internationally.

By 2022, recognizing the brand’s strong potential, a family-owned business group with deep experience in food manufacturing acquired Julian Bakery. With new leadership came fresh energy, expanded resources, and a clear vision to rebuild, strengthen, and accelerate growth. All while preserving the core spirit of health, quality, and innovation that defines us.

Today, Julian Bakery continues to honor that mission. We craft better-for-you foods without compromise, continuously improve the customer experience, and uphold the highest standards of quality. We believe healthy, great-tasting food should be accessible to everyone, no matter their dietary preferences or needs.

  • So happy to find your new grain free products! I have lived near Julian since the 70’s and love everything about the bakery. I am now in Carlsbad , still visit Julian , in fact named my dog after Julian LOL Will come by the OSide store! Congratulations !
